Screen shot 2012-08-30 at 7.37.30 PM Basic Local Alignment Search Tool is a tool that allows you to compare sequences of DNA or amnio acids between organisms. It fuctions as a query database of all sequences that have been uploaded to GenBank. It uses a heuristic method to search though all sequences in the database and order the results by similarity to the sequence you "blasted".
